What Few People Know About Flood Damage Remediation in Tucson
Anytime that flooding affects a home, water removal services are urgently required. Contact our SERVPRO team to assess the situation and remediate.
What to Do After a Flash Flood Strikes Your Tucson Home
Unexpected disasters are impossible to prepare for, but returning your Tucson home to its original condition does not have to be as overwhelming as it might initially seem. Flooding is a common threat to Tucson homes, especially through the rainier months of the year. When the ground is already overly saturated by the regular rainfall, conditions like flash flooding can occur with little warning or time to prepare.
Flash flooding damage in Tucson can affect your home in several ways, and homeowners do not often have the expertise or professional equipment necessary to restore their property to the extent that it requires. Our SERVPRO technicians go far beyond flood damage cleanup and can successfully restore properties affected by flash flooding by offering efficient extraction and effective drying solutions designed to protect the structural base elements of your home.
One of the common concerns with flooding is the effect that the water has on the construction materials it comes into contact with, but our team can help. Often with the threat of contamination, dirt, and unknown debris, controlled demolition is the best solution to overcome the threats of saturated materials. While our team often seeks to preserve original materials over reconstruction efforts, flooding situations are often the exception to this rule because of the unknown variables that exist.
Our mitigation work begins as soon as our SERVPRO professionals arrive at your address following an emergency. Our Green Fleet gets equipped with truck-mounted and gas-powered pumps to extract excess water from the affected areas quickly. Once this water gets removed, our professionals can quickly get to work on setting up our industry-leading drying equipment like air movers and dehumidifiers for moisture and saturation removal.
While you cannot always monitor the conditions to know when a flash flood is possible, knowing what to do once one occurs can help protect your home from costlier repairs and restorations. Our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley rapid response team is available 24/7 to help at (520) 648-7360.

SERVPRO Will Restore Your Green Valley Home When Bad Weather Hits
SERVPRO can restore your home after wind had caused structural damage to your home.
Why SERVPRO Delivers What Is Needed When Water Damages Your Green Valley Residence
The topography and weather patterns of the Green Valley, Sahuarita, and Vail areas in Arizona expose properties to severe damage done by the straight line winds and downdrafts of microbursts. The intense physical strain caused by a microburst might not cover a vast region, but any structures in its path can suffer significant damage. Professional restoration services offered need to resolve property security issues as well as providing water remediation.
Heavy rains accompanying or following a microburst easily enter through destroyed roofing or siding, causing considerable water damage to homes in Green Valley. Before our team turns its attention to the interior devastation, we must reinstate the exterior integrity of your dwelling. Our technicians are roof-tarping experts, and also excel at boarding up other breaches of protective building materials.
The expertise we bring to flat roof damage is why SERVPRO is the restoration company of choice in Green Valley, Sahuarita, and Vail. Quick and effective blocking of further damage from heavy rains permits our crews to create and implement a plan that removes the rainwater that already made its way inside quickly and moves on swiftly to the structural drying.
Every hour that a home’s interior holds excess water is an opportunity for progressive deterioration of structural components. Drywall crumbles, ceiling tiles bulge, and hardwood floors warp. If moisture in building materials, fixtures, furnishings, and personal possessions exceeds normal levels for more than 24 to 48 hours mold damage also is a likely complication.
Once the exterior is secure, we showcase why SERVPRO is a water damage restoration industry leader. Our service vehicles carry the pumps and extractors required to remove both evident and hidden standing water, truck mounted and generator-ready even if the storm took the power offline. Crew members measure and monitor moisture levels, establishing a baseline for appropriate drying goals.
Air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers unloaded from our green trucks then create the balance needed to restore moisture levels to normal. The extensive training our employees master in the science behind drying is another reason why SERVPRO delivers excellent results even after major wind-related structural damage.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley offers the communities we serve a full spectrum of water damage solutions. Call us at (520) 648-7360 for everything from tarping and boarding-up to water removal to complete home drying after storm damage.

What Few People Know About the Extent of Fire Damage on Your Vail Property
Whether wildfires affected your home directly or just left your property with debris cleanup, SERVPRO is the company to call for remediation services.

Wildfires can affect your Vail home throughout the drier seasons of the year. A good example of this potential disaster is the Burro Fire which destroyed close to 20,000 acres in 2017. While these are less frequent than similar disasters in other areas of the country, preparing for this possibility can help to protect your property from worsening conditions as debris affects your house and its surroundings. Our technicians respond to house fires throughout our service area, but wildfires can affect multiple properties simultaneously, which makes a fast reaction from our customers all the more important.
Vail residents, along with homeowners in Green Valley and Sahuarita would all be in need of fire debris cleanup should a wildfire large enough pass through our service region. Our SERVPRO fire damage team in Vail can respond quickly in an emergency once a customer calls, offering a fast assessment of the damage to the property and effective solutions for recovery. With our personnel on site, we can begin the process of cleaning up soot and smoke damage, and any present debris located throughout the inside or outside of the house.
One of the most pressing concerns for homeowners is not understanding what might be in the debris and ash getting into their homes and around their properties. Depending on what was consumed by the spreading blaze, contaminants and toxins could exist in the debris settling on a property that could pose health risks to the occupants and pets living there. Our SERVPRO professionals have extensive training in the use of personal protective equipment to negate these risks as we work quickly to clean up the effects of debris, soot, and smoke damage throughout the house.
Debris cleanup is sometimes the only fire effects that homeowners must contend with when area wildfires occur, but these can still present risks and threats to your house and those living in it. Ways SERVPRO Dries Your Water Damaged Vail Home
Are your appliances contributing to water damage?
Restoration of Water Damage in Vail Homes from Start to Finish
Returning home and finding your property saturated in water from a burst pipe or structural weakness can be emotionally draining. In areas of the home like a garage or cellar, keep-sakes need fast removal to prevent permanent harm. In insulated areas of the home, water can seep into wall cavities, beneath the subfloor or absorb into fabrics and furniture. These types of infiltration are not easy to remove, and you do require professional help to get the job done correctly.
One of the key things to remember for a technician remediating water damage in Vail properties is that "wet always moves to dry," which is one of the reasons water moves from wet materials to dry ones. It is also a reason why correctly drying properties can take a lot longer than initially expected, especially without the right training and equipment.
SERVPRO technicians train on how to remove water and dry a structure in the most efficient way possible. That starts with water extractors which use vacuum power and heated wands to draw water out of fabrics and floors. Where standing water is above two inches, we can use gas-powered pumps to remove it rapidly. Extracting water this way is 1,200 times faster than dehumidification.
Similar to how water moves from wet materials to dry materials, evaporated moisture moves from humid air to drier air. When relative humidity levels go above 60%, it can slow the drying times of furniture and fabrics. SERVPRO uses rapid air movers to push moisture saturated air away from the affected area. This process helps to further reduce the drying time and the costs of your restoration service.
One of the reasons SERVPRO is so prevalent in the community is because of our attention to detail. Industry leading training and IICRC certification ensure that we can deliver an efficient restoration effort to any size disaster.

After the Flood. Water Damage Vapor in Your Vail Home
After the water recedes, water vapor remains and spreads through your home.
Reducing Humidity to Normal Levels after Flood Damage in Vail
Every aspect of your home's interior becomes altered after an event involving water. Flooding in Vail creates a drastic change in the environment. The materials inside your residence also suffer tremendously and can become so unsafe that entering becomes highly risky.
Having an expert to guide you through the process of reclaiming your flood-damaged Vail property can prove invaluable in the reduction of expenses while saving you from wasting unnecessary time and having increased aggravation. SERVPRO technicians hold certificates from the IICRC, assuring you of their expertise, thoroughness, and dedication.
Our teams work hard to make sure that your home is brought back to satisfactory condition, “Like it never even happened.” The effects of a significant portion of the work we do are never seen but rather felt. The increased amount of water vapor left in the air after flooding permeates an entire home. Traveling on air currents already present in your house allows water molecules to end up everywhere.
Once in other areas of your home, these misplaced molecules of water can begin to do damage that the initial flooding was unable to do. They do this by settling on cooler surfaces and congregating together. This condensation of moisture can lead to problems with microbial populations spiking, destruction of finishes on photographs, and a sticky feeling everywhere, including your skin.
We use air movers to dry out the air, directing it outdoors. Other areas that we find more challenging to do this in receive extra help from one of our dehumidifiers or desiccant machines. We also use air scrubbers to trap any particles or microbes present in the air. When exposed to moisture, microorganisms become activated, even while still suspended in the air, leaving them completely ready to set up a colony as soon as they settle on a surface. Bringing the humidity level back down to normal and acceptable levels prevents all of this from happening.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley remediates physical flood damage and also prevents additional problems by eliminating excessive water vapor from Green Valley, Littleton, and Continental properties. Our number, (520) 648-7360, is always available to residents needing help with this disaster type and many others that cause damage to homes. Call us when you need expert help in getting your home back to livable condition.

How Our Remediation Process Can Restore Your Mold Damaged Home In Tucson
Our team can eliminate the moisture source, clean, disinfect and dry affected items in your Tucson home.
Professional Mold Damage Remediation Procedures To Restore Your Tucson Home
For mold damage to develop, water and other organic materials such as carpeting, ceiling tiles, wood products, and wallboard must be present. Also, it can grow when ceramic tiles, fiberglass insulation, concrete, and other areas are dirty and have moisture. It's also important to note that reproduction of mold occurs when spores form and get dispersed to suitable moist surfaces. As they grow on a surface, they release chemicals that cause damage to objects and buildings. Our team can eliminate the moisture source, clean, disinfect and dry affected items in your Tucson home.
It is vital to separate clean areas from contaminated sections of your Tucson home during mold damage remediation. Our SERVPRO technicians use plastic sheeting to form decontamination areas that we use to clean our equipment. We can also use the 6 mil plastic sheeting to cover door and window opening to limit the spread of mold to clean areas. Introducing negative pressure at the site is one of the containment techniques that we use.
Our SERVPRO technicians can clean the exterior parts of electronics and other appliances displaying visible mold growth using disinfectants. By using the sanding technique or a wet abrasive sponge, we can clean salvageable wood furnishings and wipe their surfaces using a disinfectant to deactivate any remaining surface spores. Porous items, such as carpeting, clothing, rugs, and papers with significant visible mold should be discarded as per the local and state regulations.
Sheetrock that displays visible mold on its back or front side must be removed. Since the removal can release much dust, we spray some water to reduce its release. Covering moldy surfaces using plastic sheeting that is secured using a duct tape can also be an option of reducing the dust. Through HEPA vacuuming, our team can remove the dust and spores that settle on the floor and other areas during the remediation process.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley has the workforce and the necessary equipment to respond immediately to all commercial and residential emergencies. Learn more about our remediation services by calling (520) 648-7360 at any time of the day.

Holy Smokes!! Get the Stink Out of Vail Buildings with SERVPRO's Help
Smoke Damage, After Demolition and Cleanup By SERVPRO Gets a Vail Home Smelling Good Again
Overcoming Smoke Damage After a Fire in Your Vail Home
Certain disasters leave behind unmanageable effects for your Vail residence. While some situations require the intervention and expertise of trained professionals, it might not make it any easier to contend with the present adverse effects in your home until the restoration process completes. With the right choice of assistance, like our certified restoration specialists, you can overcome the widespread consequences of disasters like a fire in your home quickly and efficiently.
One of the most widespread and challenging fire losses to manage in your Vail residence is smoke. These partially combusted particulates mixed with gases and aerosols can infiltrate areas far beyond the reach of the primary damages from the fire, and require specialized equipment and advanced restoration techniques to overcome. Our SERVPRO professionals have the training to handle all facets of fire damage that affect your home, including the industry-leading equipment to handle smoke damages that spread into open areas, fabrics, carpets, and more.
While smoke damage is one of the final things that our SERVPRO team of professionals seeks to overcome in a full restoration, there is an important reason for this. Other symptoms from the fire, such as soot damage and a possible need for demolition can release debris and stir up this foul odor again and again unless it gets addressed immediately. By waiting until the end of the restoration process, the deodorization can affect all areas that it must and be the most effective. However, we can set up hydroxyl generators to neutralize some of the odor-causing molecules during the service to increase the quality of the indoor air.
You do not need to understand the specifics of how smoke damage gets overcome in your home to appreciate your need for it. However, the process is quite intricate. A thermal fogging machine releases an odorless chemical compound that breaks apart harsh smells on a molecular level. These molecules get neutralized on contact, leaving no discernable odor behind at all. The products used in this fogger can limit its use for fear of degrading rubber seals, plastics, and vinyl components.
While smoke damage might not top the list of your primary concerns when you contend with a fire in your home, it is something that is a requirement for our professionals to overcome on any fire restoration project. You can depend on our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley technicians to do whatever it takes to bring your home back to the way it used to be after a fire, "Like it never even happened." Give our emergency response team a call today at (520) 648-7360.

What Few People Know About How Quickly Water can Damage Your Tucson Home
Water damage can originate in many parts of your home. Contact SERVPRO immediately to dry out your property.
Fast and Reliable Water Removal Services in Tucson
Tucson homeowners want to make sure that they understand all aspects of what they need and take time to seek out estimates and bids with many household repairs and system replacement. When water invades your house, however, speed is essential. Waiting even a day or two subjects your property to the possibility of irreversible deterioration of many conventional building materials and exposes it to the risk of damage from microbial growth. We offer reliable restoration services 24/7.
Water removal needs in Tucson often trace their source to plumbing fails and appliance malfunctions. A drier climate outdoors cannot ensure protection from the many ways water damages the interior of a home. For example, a water heater that rusts through and cracks can send 30 to 50 or more gallons of water flooding through your home, with the water continuing to flow from the supply side until someone shuts down the main. This quantity of water requires fast, professional attention.
SERVPRO responds Faster To Any-Sized Disaster, understanding that water damage is one of the most destructive forces that attack a home. We arrive with fully-equipped service vehicles, stocked with submersible pumps and water extractors ready to roll. Our crew arranges the water shut off and uses pumps when more than 2 inches of water cover the affected area. Gas powered pumps allow us to get right to work even if the electricity is off for safety purposes.
Powerful truck-mounted water extractors take on removal duty as the water recedes and in recessed areas. SERVPRO technicians master moisture monitoring techniques in IICRC classes, guiding our crews to areas where moisture drained and hides. If significant quantities of water migrated between walls, we might make flood cuts to release the moisture. Replacing sections of drywall is a sensible choice when the trapped water otherwise could continue to soak into and destroy wood framing and insulation.
If the water reached areas where your home features carpeting, rely on the specialized training our employees have to remove the water and prevent mold or mildew from growing. SERVPRO crews use weighted wanded extractors to dry carpeting in place when the water involved is Category 1. We often remove and replace padding to speed the drying process and guard against the possibility of lingering moisture that supports microbial growth if left for more than 24 to 48 hours.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley has the equipment and technicians at the ready if your home experiences internal water invasion from leaks or breakdowns. Call (520) 648-7360 to schedule an assessment within the first hours of your water emergency.

Vail Properties Degrade Over Time from Mold Infestations--Call SERVPRO for Remediation
For as plentiful as threats are to your Vail home regarding severe weather systems and other spur of the moment incidents that can leave substantial damage to contend with, there are also disasters which can develop over time and cause the same levels of threats. Microbial and fungal growth within your home is an excellent example of this. It generally takes at least three days for mold spores to enact with the environment to seat and colonize, which poses several specific risks to your home and its occupants.
The better educated you can become about mold damages and their effects on your Vail residence, the more you can start to appreciate the essential inclusion of professional remediation services when that time comes. One step in being prepared is to know whom to call when the situation demands it, and our SERVPRO AMRT applied microbial remediation technicians are standing by 24/7 to help you begin the process of mold removal in your house.
The real question that many homeowners do not know the answer to is: what exactly does mold do to my home? Mold damages can appear in various ways, from simple spotting that can prove difficult to initially diagnose to the untrained eye, but develop into a widespread colony affecting multiple surfaces and materials throughout an area of your home. Spores seat into these construction materials and contents in the vicinity and feed off of the organic matter they contain. Over a brief period, these materials can weaken and degrade, leaving them unsalvageable to the experienced efforts of our SERVPRO technicians.
Even above this degradation of the materials and contents throughout your home, mold growth can pose potential health effects to those exposed to the colony. By way of air circulation systems, active spores can move from one area of the house to another, affecting its occupants and allowing the colonization to spread even farther from the source.
As you can see, mold infestations need to get taken care of immediately as they get discovered. That is part of the reason why our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley remediation technicians are available. If you discover microbial growth in your home, do not hesitate to call us at (520) 648-7360.

Controlling Odor Changes in Vail during Fire Damage Restoration
Fire damage can engulf a small area in your home. Contact SERVPRO right away for mitigation services.
SERVPRO Technicians Effectively Remediate Foul Odors After a Fire
We cannot run away from the stress that fire damage incidences bring along whenever they happen. Taking the right actions is the only sure way of restoring contents to their preloss condition and preventing possible additional damage. Controlling the smoke odors is one of the challenges you have to overcome when you undergo such an experience in Vail. It is essential to understand the permeation of odor molecules in a structure for successful odor removal.
Our SERVPRO technicians understand that residents can perceive odors differently during fire damage restoration in Vail. It means that the mind of an individual determines whether the smell of a scent is good or bad. For instance, paint or gasoline odors may smell pleasant to some individuals while it can be the other way round to other people. Our team has to analyze the situation at hand to come up with the most appropriate method of neutralizing the unpleasant smells.
No instrument in the market detects the presence of smell, and we have to depend on our noses. Odors may result when the soot particles mix with fire extinguishing agents or water and rot. The first step that our SERVPRO technicians perform when attending to such situation is to locate and remove the sources of the smells. Though it sounds so straightforward, that is not always the case. There are instances when the odors are coming from crevices and areas that are hard to access.
When the temperature and the humidity are so high, the odor molecules tend to vaporize so quickly and become stronger. That is why our SERVPRO team informs our customer about the possibility of the smells reoccurring during warm or humid weather. To address the odors, we perform deodorization with a goal of neutralizing the odor molecules. Usually, we use thermal foggers and Ultra Low Volume Foggers to dispense the deodorizing agents.
At SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley, we respond immediately to any commercial or residential emergency. To work with a leader in the restoration industry, call us at (520) 648-7360.

Professional Remediation for Water Damage to Floors in Green Valley
Water damage affects materials in your home at different rates. Contact SERVPRO right away for effective remediation efforts.
SERVPRO Technicians Understand How Quickly Many Different Types of Flooring Absorb Water After a Water Damage Event
Nearly all homeowners take the structural components and fixtures of their Green Valley residences for granted until water intrudes. The damage water can cause is shocking, yet you have little time to spare assimilating that information during the crisis. Water damage must be addressed immediately. Our technicians train in efficient water remediation strategies and have access to the correct equipment to abate a water loss that otherwise might expose your floors to permanent damage.
The approach taken to remediate water damaged floors in your Green Valley home varies depending on the type of flooring material. Vinyl or linoleum and tile floors typically handle water well, rarely needing more than water extraction and general drying with air movers and a dehumidifier to remedy. In cases, however, where the water seeps down into the subfloor through cracks in the joints between tile or squares, more intensive action is needed. Our technicians know how to evaluate the damage to the surface and the underlying plywood or other flooring layers. During IICRC training, our employees master methods to reduce the excess moisture in all flooring levels to normal levels.
When laminate floors show water damage, the prognosis can be less favorable. Laminate floors contain layers of absorbent materials that soak up the water, swelling and distorting quickly. These floors mimic hardwood or other natural materials but are not as durable. If SERVPRO technicians arrive shortly after the laminate soaks through, swift water extraction and drying techniques might save some or at least a portion of the flooring. Often the layers split apart as the water dissolves the bonds and those areas require replacement.
Hardwood floors can be surprisingly durable, but SERVPRO reports the best outcomes when we arrive within hours of the water loss. Eventually even densely pored wood absorbs enough water to swell resulting in buckling, warping, cupping, or crowning. We evaluate the damage seen and advise on the likelihood we can reverse or at least mitigate the damage. In all cases, water removal and drying are necessary.
SERVPRO must resolve water damage to subfloors under all circumstances. If the moisture levels remain at above normal, the efforts we make to dry out visible flooring fail when the underlying moisture wicks into the top layer. Lingering moisture also exposes your home to the risk of secondary damage like mold growth and progressive weakening of the structure. We use advanced drying equipment like dehumidifiers and negative air pressure floor mats that pull moisture out the wet layers. If there is access to the underfloor from the story below, we position air movers underneath to hasten evaporation.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley has a range of strategies available if your floor experiences water damage. Call us at (520) 648-7360 to schedule an assessment and develop a water mitigation plan.

Anyone who has been here for more than several years can attest that a sudden storm drops thousands of gallons of water on top of area homes overnight. These storm bursts happen quickly and can flood a home just like a cresting river in the Midwest.
Restoring Green Valley homes after flood damage requires more than just removing water in the home. SERVPRO technicians train to find and restore damage to both the home and the property inside it. After eliminating standing water as a threat, they dry everything quickly, but without causing any secondary damage.
For example, structural property like drywall and wood framing can absorb much water. If the items remain intact, technicians can remove the water and dry each piece before it causes them to crumble, rot, or begin growing mold.
To stop rot and mold growth, and dry structural property, technicians, use dehumidifiers, air movers, and fans. They first install a dehumidifier to draw moisture from a nearby property item like drywall and the surrounding air. Depending on the amount of moisture in each, the machine can remove up to 25 gallons of water every 24 hours and causes no physical damage.
To augment the dehumidifiers, SERVPRO technicians install fans at key exit points. The devices draw the cooler, damp air from inside the home, lowering the inside humidity, and blow it outside. Fans also support the use of air movers.
Technicians use this last device on property that has absorbed water but has not started to fall apart or rot. They can adjust the speed and temperature to match the water present and remove it quickly without over drying the items. That reduces the risk of drywall panels crumbling or wood framing warping, splitting, or cracking.
At SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley, our only goal is to return every home after a flood to its original, dry state. If you need us, call our office at (520) 648-7360 today to schedule a visit.

Mitigating Flood Damage To Your Green Valley Home with Roof Tarping Services
SERVPRO Respons Swiftly to Protect a Damaged Roof in Green Valley after a Monsoon Wind Passed
SERVPRO Helps Keep the Water Out While Removing the Water from Within Your Property after a Monsoon
As many who live in the Green Valley area are already familiar, the summertime is when some of the most torrential rainfall and severe weather conditions affect the area. Between July and August, the monsoon season ravages homes and businesses throughout the region and tests their abilities to withstand the palpable strength and ferocity of the storms.
The unfortunate truth to this scenario is that many homes within the Green Valley area cannot avoid the flood damages that result when their roofs give way and fail under the intensity of the severe weather system. Our SERVPRO professionals can not only assist you with the immediate concerns of flood damages but also in your need for short-term roof tarping until the appropriate repairs can get made.
During these severe weather events, many different styles of roofs find themselves in danger of failing. For example, a straight line wind from a microburst has the strength to tear off roofs altogether. Heavy rain can wreak havoc on flat roofs as well, posing similar avenues for flood damage to penetrate through the upper level of your home and affect a wide area inside of your house.
Amid a flooding event, you need a team of restoration professionals that can respond quickly and limit this exposure and avenue for floodwaters to penetrate. Our SERVPRO technicians can help you to mitigate the damage you experience by working to tarp over the damage your roof has experienced from a monsoon to stop the flow of water into your home so that extraction efforts can begin. We can use a "shrink-wrap" process to secure the storm-damaged opening from the elements quickly. Substantial roof repairs, especially on a larger scale later get handed off to accredited residential contractors that can replace the damaged areas entirely.
Sometimes you have to have a quick solution to keep your home from experiencing irreparable damages amid severe weather or monsoon passing through the area. Our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley water damage restoration specialists can help you to limit the damage your home experiences with roof tarping and water removal services and get to work on fully restoring your home. Common Reasons For Mold Damage In Green Valley Residences
When a mold spore encounters moisture, it grows.
Common Reasons For Mold Damage
As a proud homeowner in Green Valley, you are aware of the curb appeal as well as the appearance and comfort inside your house. Regular cleaning and maintenance go a long way toward keeping your home as you desire. Unfortunately, forces can be at work to derail your best-laid plans. If you discover mold growth do not despair; let us help.
Mold damage in your Green Valley home can cause you to question your housekeeping skills. Keeping microbial growth at bay is more complicated than merely keeping areas clean. Mold spores are everywhere, and cannot be eliminated from any space unless prohibitively expensive and frankly unavailable air purification and sealing are in place. Commercially microbe-free “clean rooms” do exist in labs or specialized healthcare facilities, but are not practical in your or anyone’s home. We help you manage this reality when we respond to your need for mold remediation.
When a mold spore encounters moisture, it grows. It does not need anything more than a bit of water, oxygen, and an organic surface upon which to multiply. Perfect surfaces include wood, drywall, fabrics, and even metals, glass, or tile if just a tiny residue of soap, grease, or skin oils or cells is present. This explains why a “clean” bathroom or kitchen can provide the food needed for mold. SERVPRO mold remediators search for likely moisture sources under sinks, in unsealed grout lines, or where damp, dirty clothing piled up near the washer before laundry day. Unnoticed condensation under your self-defrosting freezer or the flooring under a pet’s water dish all offer the moisture mold needs, and there are dozens of other examples where tiny collections of water fuel microbial growth. We advise you to eliminate all of these moisture sources to avoid future mold damage.
Regardless of the source of the moisture, SERVPRO responds according to the protocol developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Applied Microbial Remediation Technician training completed at Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC). We establish the extent of the mold infestation, which can include hidden areas behind walls and under other structures. Containment is the next step. Our crew sets up zones, ensuring that the moldy debris does not travel. Plastic sheeting might be joined with a negative air pressure system that prevents the contaminated air from drifting into non-affected areas.
We remove mold by mechanical means, brushing and scrubbing off non-porous surfaces and using controlled abrasives like soda blasting to save porous surfaces with a minor mold infestation. SERVPRO technicians train to determine what can be cleaned and what should be replaced. All moldy debris, including residues vacuumed with HEPA filter-equipped machines, are bagged and disposed of following local hazardous waste codes. EPA registered antimicrobials treat the now-cleaned surfaces to inhibit mold regeneration.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley provides our communities with expert mold remediation services. Call us at (520) 648-7360 to schedule an appointment to consult about your mold damage problem.

What To Expect When SERVPRO Restores Fire Damage Suffered By Your Vail Home
When a fire strikes your property, you can lean on our SERVPRO technicians to help you get back in your home quickly.
Take A Look At Our Fire Damage Restoration Process in Vail Residential Homes
When your Vail home experiences the devastation of a fire, you should not be surprised to feel stressed and overwhelmed. Although it is clear you cannot manage the fire damage remediation tasks on your own, you and your family have front-row seats as we work on restoring your home back to its original look and function -- “Like it never even happened.” Here is what you have to anticipate as we complete each step.
Within hours of your call, we arrive at your Vail home ready to assess the fire damage. Our crew lead inspects all areas of your home, even spaces far from the blaze. Smoke and soot can spread throughout a building, especially if the HVAC system was in operation at the time of the fire and continued to work afterward. We evaluate the characteristics of soot residues, which can be different from space to space. The level of charring and involvement of fixtures and personal belongings is essential to confirm as we develop a plan to restore the premises.
If water extinguished the flames, SERVPRO begins with water removal and structural drying. Ridding the house of water is a safety requirement, limiting slip and fall risks, avoiding the threat of electrocution, and halting the deterioration of building materials. Mold growth is possible if water remains more than 24 to 48 hours after the event, making speed water damage mitigation critical.
As members of the team operate pumps and extractors, and position air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers, other SERVPRO employees begin cleaning up the sooty residues. Hot, high-temperature fires leave an ashy trail, removable with vacuums and dry sponges. Slow burning, low-temperature combustion allows thick, sticky soot to accumulate. We need cleaners with wetting agents and surfactants to loosen the coating. Spray and wipe, or immersion cleaning techniques have their place with this type of fire damage.
Kitchen fires leave an almost invisible coating that adheres like varnish or lacquer. SERVPRO employees employ abrasive techniques and possibly solvents to remove this film. As our crew moves through your home, we attend to surfaces and fixtures like carpeting, utilizing steam extractors and dedicated cleaners to pull residues out of carpet or upholstery fibers. We also consider inventorying portable articles for pack out and transport to our production facility. Our fire damage production staff uses advanced strategies to restore items you might have felt were beyond repair.
Deodorization methods are far more efficient than the common cover-ups available over the counter get results. Slow and grease-based fires produce odors that are hard to eliminate, but SERVPRO offers access to a range of cutting-edge solutions including thermal fogging and hydroxyl generation that change the chemistry of odor-bearing particles, rendering them neutralized.

Reliable Commercial Water Removal In Tucson
Tucson Commercial Properties Rely on SERVPRO for Water Damage Cleanup and Restoration
SERVPRO Responds Swifty to Mitigate Water Damage in Tucson Area Businesses
Every Tucson business owner and the key staff employed for the company's day to day operations should know whom to call if water removal becomes necessary for their locations. Water damages structural components, equipment, records, inventory, and a long list of other contents your business cannot afford to risk to a water loss. Let us be your partner. Ask us about our ERP Emergency READY Profile Plan to help prevent and mitigate damaging water events to your enterprise.
Reliable commercial water removal is absolutely a business and life saver in Tucson. A little dirt, needed maintenance, electronic breakdowns, or a whole range of other issues pose problems for the operation of your business. Most of these concerns can wait for a convenient time or be handled by your cleaning staff or other employees. When large quantities of water collect inside your commercial property, a response must occur immediately by trained, skilled, and certified personnel.
The response, to be effective, needs to be from a reliable, licensed, and certified water removal firm with experience in large water losses. SERVPRO responds and dispatches crews round the clock because we know a water emergency does not respect times, dates, holidays, or weekends. When excess water enters a building, it immediately threatens the structure and the contents. Fast removal and thorough drying is the only answer.
When our SERVPRO team arrives, expect questions about the source of the unwanted water. Category One or “clean” water contains few contaminants and does not increase the risk of microbial damage if it exits fast. Category Two or “gray” water has some organic substances mixed in -- think appliance or sink or tub overflows as examples. The affected surfaces benefit from sanitizing, but the water usually does not create secondary microbial damage if pumped or extracted quickly.
Category Three or “black’ water results from flooding, sewer backup, and the combining of trapped water with chemicals, oils, or other dangerous substances. Clean water can become black water if left to stagnate. SERVPRO crews prepare for projects involving this type of water carefully, following IICRC, OSHA, and EPA protocols. Bloodborne pathogens from sewage and other biohazards require personal protective equipment for our employees and containment and proper disposal according to federal, states, and local code of the water and waste.
Do not get caught without a short list when water removal is needed for your business. SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley has the skills and the equipment to rid your business of excess water safely and swiftly. Call (520) 648-7360 to schedule a quick assessment.

Roof Tarping To Reduce Flood Damage In Green Valley Homes
Green Valley Homes and Cactus Stand Up to Monsoon Season Well with SERVPRO's Help
SERVPRO Quickly Responds in Green Valley to Minimize Roof Damage from Monsoon Effects
Green Valley homeowners and residents can suffer a wide variety of damages after a micro-burst or monsoon cut through our community. The sudden and severe winds can cause as many problems as the water does to each home.
One of the methods SERVPRO uses to reduce flood damage in Green Valley home is roof tarping. It covers a roof to prevent secondary problems in the same way when our teams board up windows and doors. The process is more detailed, since roofs, particularly the flat roofs common to so many houses in our area, are more vulnerable to further wind and water damage than other entry points.
First, our SERVPRO technicians identify and measure the size of the damaged section of the roof. It is not enough to look at it and measure since winds can get under the tiles and damage the structure below it. Monsoon rain can be a significant source of water penetration into a structure. Depending on the roof structure and its components, a "shrink-wrap" process may be used to keep out the elements along with birds and vermin.
Next, team members unfold a tarp to cover the damaged section. Although most of these commercial tarps are blue, the color does not matter, as long as it is waterproof and is tough enough to drive a washered nail through or set a screw into it. Our technicians ensure there is enough material at the top and bottom of the tarp to help secure it, usually about four feet of material at the top and the bottom. They also measure so there is at least a foot of material on either side the damage as well.
Securing the tarp starts by wrapping the bottom of it around a 2x4 and nailing it down. SERVPRO technicians ensure it is secured at the edge of the eave to the roof framing and not just through the tile and panel. They do the same at the top and then drive another 2x4 on top of those make sure it stays in place. To secure the sides, team members use more 2x4s, securing them with enough material on the outside, so it does not pull away from the nails under high winds. They also make certain to nail them in place no more than about 6 to 10 inches apart.
The goal of SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley is to secure your home against further damage and to provide a safe environment while moving property and performing any needed restoration. Call (520) 648-7360 today to schedule a visit. We are here for you.

Mold Remediation For Your Green Valley Home
SERVPRO sets up chambers to properly contain mold damage and prevent it from spreading throughout your home
Our expert technicians use their knowledge and experience to remediate mold damage
The discovery of mold in your Green Valley home can be overwhelming at first. While many people do not fully understand how simple it is for fungal growths to occur in their home, they can appreciate that it is a damaging presence that needs to get removed. Unfortunately, conventional cleaning methods are often ineffective to get rid of colonized mold and therefore, professional remediation services are a necessity to get the job done.
Mold damage can present itself in multiple ways in your Green Valley home. One of those ways is how you most likely learned about the colonies growing: the musty odor. There are many steps to mold remediation, and our applied microbial remediation technicians at SERVPRO have the training and expertise to handle any aspect of the removal and restoration process to get your home back to its original condition.
From the time that our team arrives at your house, we get to work on assessing the full scope of the damage that your home faces as well as the source of the moisture that allowed the mold to develop in the first place. Repairing this damage to your home is critical to preventing the same occurrence in the immediate future.
Sectioning off the affected area helps to prevent mold spores from moving to new areas of your home, which is an essential component to remediation. This allows the removal of the mold colonies, while instruments like air scrubbers with HEPA filters work to catch and trap airborne spores from circulating out of the area. These pieces of equipment get used simultaneously with air movers and dehumidifiers to remove the moisture from the area that had fed the colony to this point.
One of the final steps in the remediation process is deodorization. This helps to eliminate that bold, musty odor that you encountered when you first discovered the mold damage in your home. Thermal foggers release a dense chemical compound to break apart these present odor molecules on contact and leave no discernable scent behind.
While no homeowner wants to have to address with mold damage in their home, the right professional assistance can make the process much more manageable. Our remediation technicians at SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley are available 24/7 by calling (520) 648-7360.

Deodorization For Your Fire Damaged Green Valley Home
Smoke Odors Get Eliminated in Green Valley--Just Call SERVPRO
Green Valley Fire & Smoke Odors Handled by SERVPRO
A fire is something that no Green Valley homeowner wants to have happened to their residence, but this, unfortunately, is sometimes the case. With the kind of widespread damages that even smaller sized fires can produce, contending with the effects after the flames get extinguished can feel overwhelming and stressful. Fortunately, you have a team of restoration experts at your hand to help you through every facet of cleaning and restoring your home.
The truth is, fire damages to your Green Valley home can present themselves in several different ways. You might find yourself less bothered by some effects more than others, but still, want to seek out the kind of professional restoration that can handle all of the damage and bring your home back to preloss conditions as quickly as possible. "Like it never even happened." That is where SERVPRO comes in.
Our team gets to work quickly in determining the full extent of the damage and seals up small holes in your home's exterior that could allow elemental damages to your house during the restoration process. More significant gaps and severe destruction requires a residential construction contractor to rebuild these areas before our restoration work can begin.
While soot damage is a common thread to most of the fires that occur in homes, this is often not the effect that most homeowners get bothered by the most. The lingering scent of the smoke and charring of materials can remain in a home for an extended period after the fire has gotten extinguished, which can make living comfortably in your home a challenge. Then there is the added psychological issue of "imagined smoke odor." SERVPRO techs can place slow-release fragrance producing beads to grapple with this mindset.
Deodorization is one of the last processes that our SERVPRO technicians implement in a restoration plan. This process typically involves the use of a thermal fogger to break up noxious odor molecules and neutralize them to leave no traceable odor behind. During the cleanup efforts, hydroxyl generators or an ozone machine can also be used under the right circumstances.
Contending with the multiple adverse effects of a fire in your home is nothing that you should have to face alone. Our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley fire restoration technicians are available to help you through every step of this process to restore your home to preloss condition. Give us a call anytime at (520) 648-7360.

Professional Water Damage Restoration Is The Smart Choice In Sahuarita
SERVPRO Detects Excess Moisture and Removes Water from Sahuarita Homes to Mitigate Damages
Homeowners in Sahuarita Call Upon SERVPRO to Remove Water from Leaks and Mitigate Damages
With big box hardware and home improvement stores in Sahuarita full of equipment for the do-it-yourselfer, a homeowner can feel prepared for any emergency. The reality of water incursion events, however, often includes recovery complications an untrained person cannot anticipate. Our highly-qualified team of restoration experts has the training and experience, as well as the tools, to manage your water damage scenario successfully.
Water damage in a Sahuarita dwelling often traces to a long-time buildup of moisture from seemingly minor leaks in plumbing, appliances, or roofing. Sometimes the slow drip turns into a torrent when a pipe or connection breaks, or when a seasonal storm reveals roof flashings or gutter systems are in need of attention. It may even be caused by a swamp cooler on the roof. Responding to the immediate crisis leads to the discovery of the previous and unnoticed destruction. The crew members we send to your home are well aware of the propensity of water damage to accumulate quietly under cabinets and between walls.
When our SERVPRO team arrives an assessment of the immediate water damage encompasses any signs we see of prior issues. A key component of our investigation is the use of sensitive moisture meters and advanced infrared scanners that detect hidden pockets of water. As we begin pumping and extracting the visible water, we keep in mind that Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) industry standards require applied structural drying of every material and recess saturated. Our production managers always determine drying goals based on IICRC mandates and develop a step by step action plan to achieve those goals.
Once the pumps and wanded extractors complete their phase of the restoration, SERVPRO employees move in high-efficiency air movers and dehumidifiers to continue the structural drying. If indicated by the moisture levels within the structural components, heaters may join the tools employed to force water out of walls, floors, framing, fixtures, and ceilings. Moisture evaporates as it escapes the surfaces, and the evaporative or desiccant dehumidifiers we use reduce the resultant higher ambient humidity in the rooms affected by the water damage. We also choose effective strategies to release water trapped in hidden spaces -- drilling holes, pulling off baseboards and kick plates, or removing sections of compromised drywall or ceiling tiles.
The thoroughness SERVPRO brings to a water damage scene is crucial, as any lingering dampness continues to deteriorate dampened structures. Microbial growth is also a severe consequence of a failure to eradicate all excess moisture, including high humidity. Rely on our team’s proven ability to manage all aspects of your water loss restoration project.
Do not be caught over your head in water damage mitigation challenges. Contact SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley for fast and professional solutions to a water loss. Call (520) 648-7360 for a 24 hour, year-round response.

The Wrath of a Packrat.
Packrats normally live outfoors in natural habitats but they often find a way to dwell inside buildings.
Packrats (also known as woodrats) are a species of rodent we see alot of here in the desert areas of North America. They tend to use rocky caves or the base of prickly pear or cholla cactus as their dwelling space. Packrats reproduce at the rate of 5 litters a year with an average of 5 offspring per litter!
What happens when humans develop housing in areas where woodrats have lived for hundreds of thousands of years? Packrats find safety and shelter inside the walls or attics of buildings. While inside they can do some serious damage on wires and make a complete mess spreading their feces everywhere. Nesting spots within insulation and stored clothing and other packing material become a save haven for packrats.
While preventing an invasion of packrats might be more of a pest control issue (ask who we recomend), our technicians can deep clean any filthy situation. If you find yourself infested with a family of packrats (even just one lonley woodrat can wreak havoc) please give us consideration in cleaning up the mess "Like it never even happened."
Flooded Homes and Mold Growth
Extensive flood damage required a majority of this interior to be removed and disposed, a task too large for your typical carpet cleaning company.
There are over 30,000 carpet cleaning companies scattered across the United States. The likelihood of 2-3 competing restoration companies in your hometown is very good. Many times after a flood or water damage it's off to Google to do a quick search on whom to call to service your water damaged home or business. Just in the zip codes of 85629 & 85614 there are 15 carpet cleaning and restoration companies. I took the time to search reviews on these local companies & the majority of them have no certifications, BBB ratings, or the equipment to properly clean and restore a flood damaged property. They do have the equipment and ability to shampoo a carpet and I am sure, in most cases, they would do a fine, satisfactory job.
Unfortunately, when a home has had a flood, whether it was from a storm, or just a leaking pipe, your home or office will typically need much more extensive work to ensure further damage does not occur. Simply vacuuming up standing water on carpet and hard flooring & giving it a once over with a carpet shampoo machine does nothing for water trapped in the slab or soaked up by drywall. When water is left within a few days to a week mold growth will begin to occur. Mold can cause health effects.
This mold growth is typically invisible to your eye for a number of months because the growth occurs in the dark, damp area between your carpet and your structures' slab. Eventually after a couple of weeks to a few months your walls will begin to show this mold growth. SERVPRO is typically called when this mold growth is finally noticed which results in a much more extensive job including carpet removal, slab drying, drywall removal & replacement, and extensive testing to ensure the home & it's contents are dry and mold free.
Your best option is to just call your local SERVPRO directly after your home or office has suffered a flood damage. We are a highly trained emergency response restoration company with a staff of professionals prepared to take on any job. A carpet cleaning company is fine when you just have a soiled carpet but, leave the flood for the experts

Evaporation coolers, aka swamp coolers are an economical way to beat the dry desert heat. Unfortunately, worn out parts can be a fire waiting to happen.
Fire damage emergency tips are crucial and valuable information every homeowner or property manager should be aware of.
Old or improperly installed fan motors can overheat and be the cause to a dangerous house fire. You should replace the water pump and pads at least once a year and be sure water lines are clear of debris. The feeling of losing property due to fire is already bad enough with the hindsight of knowing it was preventable.

Commercial Carpet Cleaning
Bring the life back to your workplace!
Our carpet cleaning services are not limited to residential properties only. Your local SERVPRO Tucson/Sahuarita/Green Valley is fully equipped to handle any carpet cleaning contract.
As you are probably aware, a first impression means a lot. This is especially true when you are in the hotel & motel business. Typically, the foyer, front desk, and waiting area in a hotel are heavy traffic areas and the carpet tends to get dirty very quickly. Not only can this mean a loss of business for some of your more particular clients, but more importantly it can mean a bad review on important websites like Yelp. This is especially important for hotels because families and business people use the internet when researching a place to stay when they are traveling. In many cases these review sites, are found in popular search engines before the hotel's contact page.
SERVPRO offers special commercial carpet cleaning rates per square foot. These special rates tend to be about 35%-40% less than residential carpet cleaning rates. Free estimates are always provided by a trained IICRC professional. So, if you are unhappy with your current carpet cleaner or just looking to get a more reasonable rate, call SERVPRO today! Let us help you get that 5 star review!

We sure are proud of this little Soccer team and hope to see them stick with the sport for many years to come.
Leaking Refrigerator Line Causes Tucson Water Damage
This water damaged kitchen in Tucson, AZ required several commercial grade dryers. The water damaged home was caught quickly & the cabinetry was saved
Yesterday we received a call from a Tucson area homeowner. She woke up to a flooded kitchen and living room and was unsure of what to do. Well, in a case like this, she did know what to do, call SERVPRO Tucson. Our flood restoration truck & trained staff was on-site in about an hour. Our crew chief quickly found the source of the problem, a water line supplying the refrigerator broke, and although the leak wasn't very big it quietly leaked water throughout the night downstairs.
The Tucson kitchen and living room were flooded extensively and work to restore the property was quickly started. In order to minimize the impact of costly repairs down the road, water restoration services should start immediately. Because the Tucson homeowner caught the water damage quickly the impact of the damage was minimized. The standing water was quickly removed and the dryers were brought in. The kitchen cabinetry was saved, the toe kicks removed, and the SERVPRO commercial dryers were turned on.
In order to ensure the surrounding drywall is dried thouroughly our "inject-a-dry" unit was used. Small holes are drilled in the drywall and fast moving air is injected behind the wall to ensure the water is removed from the backside as well as the front side. It has been 24 hours since the flood was discovered. Our fans have been running through the night to ensure the water damaged areas don't show signs of mold growth in the future. Further restoration of the water damaged kitchen will continue and before & after pictures will be posted.
Local Carpet Cleaners vs. SERVPRO Carpet Cleaning
Green Valley SERVPRO carpet cleaners utilize commercial grade hot water extraction units. Removing the most stubborn carpet dirt & grime.
In this day and age it's hard to balance a family budget. Sometimes, at the end of the month, less important things may have to be put off until the old bank account rebuilds. Carpet cleaning may be one of those things that get's put off month after month. Because dirt and grime builds up slowly over week's or even month's, you may not even notice your home needs a good deep carpet cleaning. Perhaps you think the cost of a good carpet cleaning may be too expensive, or maybe you just do not have a good reference to a reputable carpet cleaning company.
Cheap carpet cleaning does not always mean quality carpet cleaning. There are many local carpet cleaning companies that advertise things like, "$59.99 whole house deep carpet cleaning." These are just ploys to get their foot in the door and usually you will have to deal with a salesman giving you a "hard up-sell" in your own living room talking about "high traffic areas cost more" and such. SERVPRO Green Valley - Sahuarita does not employ these tactics. We provide free, competitively priced estimates & utilize only SERVPRO brand safe chemicals on your carpet or flooring. Our state-of-the-art hot water extraction units are used on even the most severely water damaged homes and commercial buildings. These so called "heavy traffic areas" don't stand a chance against these units. This is why we advertise our carpet cleaning services as a "deep carpet cleaning". These units don't just shampoo the top of your carpet, but clean & pull up even the most stubborn dirt and grime. This ensures your carpet won't be shabby looking a week later.
Although our pricing may be a bit more than some of the local carpet cleaners in your area, our work is long lasting. We believe in the old addage, "you get what you pay for."
SERVPRO Green Valley offers carpet cleaning services in the 85629 & 85614 areas.
Polybutylene Plumbing & Water Damage
Here is a good example of gray Polybutylene. This will leak over time & cause extensive water damage.
Some things just go together, peanut butter & jelly, popcorn & movies, and springtime & baseball. I think we can all agree that these are things that are destined to be together. Another thing to add to the list is Polybutylene plumbing & water damage. Some of you may not be aware of what Polybutylene plumbing is, where it may be in your home, how to identify it, and what it can cause.
What Is Polybutylene Plumbing?
Polybutylene is a polymer or plastic material that was widely used to make piping for plumbing in commercial and residential buildings during the 1970's. When new it is a tough but flexible material and was deemed perfect for all types of plumbing. Traditionally copper was used for piping, but because of the cost of this metal polybutylene became the material of choice for home builders through the mid nineties. Extensive testing was done in the 1970's to test the durability of this new, space-age material and it passed with flying colors. Sometimes, scientific testing fails, especially if a key point is missed. The labs that were carrying out the testing failed to recognize that public water supplies typically contained elements like chlorine. Over time this chemical causes this plastic to become brittle and deteriorate from the inside out. Eventually, (15-20 years) this plumbing will fail and water will begin leaking into your ceiling and walls.
Where Is Polybutylene Plumbing?
This type of plumbing is typically found in areas where housing booms were happening from the early eighties through the mid-nineties. Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah are some of the states where Polybutylene plumbing was widely used. Tucson, AZ in particular was a boom town during this time and water damage issues as well as mold damage are common place. A plumber can tell you for sure if your home or office was plumbed with Polybutylene. This type of plumbing, if used in your home, can be found in basements, entering your hot water heater, under sinks in you bathroom or kitchen, or in your attic. It is commonly used for water distribution within your home and may be hiding behind walls.
How Do I Identify Polybutylene?
If your home or office was constructed in the last 15 years the liklihood of polybutylene plumbing used is very low. If your structure was built from the mid- seventies to the mid-nineties you may want to do some snooping around. This plumbing is typically 1/2" to 1" in diameter and may be blue, grey, or black. If you find piping in these colors, first look for a stamp marked "PB 2110 M". If you see this mark it is a great idea to call a plumber. Blue Polybutylene was usually used for underground water mains, but you may see this entering your home through your foundation or inserted in your water meter. Black distribution piping, although less commonly used than grey, may be 1/2" to 1" in diameter but may not be polybutylene. Polyethelene plumbing is also black and a professional plumber should be called to identify this piping.
Polybutylene Failure Leads To Water Damage & Mold Growth
Over time this plumbing will fail if not addressed in a timely manner. Water damage and eventual mold growth will occur in ceilings and walls leaving you with insurance claims or expensive out of pocket costs. If you have a water leak in your home call a plumber to repair and replace the faulty plumbing. When the plumber is finished with their repair, a water restoration company like SERVPRO will be needed to restore and repair your flood damaged ceiling, flooring, and walls. Our restoration techniques are unrivaled and we will thoroughly dry you home and it's contents with our time tested techniques. SERVPRO Tucson & water damage restoration is kind of like peanut butter & jelly, we just go together.
Carpet Drying Services Tucson
If the carpet pad is not replaced the carpet will wick moisture back into it. An attempt was made to dry the carpet surface but was not a solution.
We recently received a call from a Tucson homeowner who had a flood develop in her bathroom which left a lot of water in her hallway and living room. She called a plumber to fix the source of the leak. The plumber fixed the leak and offered to dry her carpet for an additional fee. She agreed, he brought in a couple of commercial fans and left them on overnight to dry the property. In the morning he came back to retrieve the fans and the carpet was dry to the touch.
After about a week the homeowner began to notice an odd smell in her home and called around to different carpet drying companies. She settled on our SERVPRO to come out and take a look. After one of our trained staff members heard what had happened he knew instantly the carpet pad, and the carpet drying in general had not been done correctly.
Mold growth had begun in the carpet pad which was attributing to the odd, funky smell in the home. The carpet would have to pulled up and the damp carpet pad underneath would have to be disposed of and replaced. Five to six commercial drying fans would be placed in strategic areas around the living room to ensure proper air flow and would be left running for three days before reinstallation of the pad and carpeting could be done. We gave her a free estimate on neccessary repairs and she gave us a call a couple of days later to begin the work.
Although many plumbers are licensed & bonded in the field of plumbing, not all of them are equipped to deal with a severely water damaged property, nor do all of them follow IICRC principles & policies when drying carpets or flood damaged flooring. In the Tucson, Green Valley, and Sahuarita areas SERVPRO is the company to call for carpet drying services.
Emergency Water & Flood Restoration 85614
This home in Green Valley 85614 Had an under sink leak. The water flowed onto the flooring requiring SERVPRO to restore the water damaged property.
When I was in 3rd grade my teacher told the class that it was impossible to draw a perfect circle. I don't like being told I can't do something (who does?) so out came a pencil and a sheet of paper. Tongue sticking out slightly and to the side I set out to make the impossible happen. I realized, after about half an hour that this was impossible, and I was ok with that.
A home is built on the principle of being flat & square. A builder will do everything they can do to make sure your home or office follows these basic building principles. Unfortunately, like drawing a perfect circle, this is impossible to get just right. Our eyes can't see these slight discrepancies, but if you pour a glass of water on your floor or countertop, it will definitely flow from a high spot to a low spot.
Now imagine that glass of water multiplied ten thousand times. This flood like amount of water will flow from high to low as well, even if your flooring is off from being flat by a single degree. Water will always flow from high to low, we can thank gravity for that. In a flooded home, water never just sits on top of flooring, it will find every crack and opening in your floor and find it's way to the slab your home sits on, eventually soaking into the cement further looking for an escape. This can cause many problems if not addressed including cracking, mold growth, and a generally compromised foundation.
When your home has suffered from a flood resulting in water damage, in the Green Valley 85614 area or portions of Tucson, SERVPRO 85614 is the service to use. Our highly trained team is equipped to remove all damaging moisture from your home. Our response time, and philosphies on restoration are time tested and proven techniques utilized by expert technicians. Although none of them can draw a perfect circle we sure have the ability to restore your flood damaged structure "like it never even happened."
What Is Mold? (Do I Need A Mold Inspection?)
Black mold growth, when seen in this concentration, should be addressed immediately by a mold inspector.
Let me start of by saying what mold is not, this may help narrow things down a bit. Mold is not bacteria, animal, or plant. Mold is a fungus, much like a mushroom and requires water and some type of substrate material to grow. A substrate is a nutrition source that fungus needs to grow. Mold will thrive in almost any substrate including carpet glue, gypsum based drywall, and wood. Often, after a home floods, mold growth begins instantly and will eventually become visible as green, black & blue spots. Especially if the structure is not dryed thoroughly. Please note, mold is everywhere and all of us have been exposed to it on a daily basis from the time we were born. Some of us are much more sensitive to the "spores" mold releases which may agitate current medical conditions such as asthma or allergies.
At certain concentrations however, all of us become susceptible to these mold spores in varying degrees. It is difficult to say exactly how much mold is "a lot" or "enough to cause symptoms". But a good rule of thumb is to call a professional mold inspector or water restoration company as soon as a mold colony is noticed with your naked eye.
If you suspect mold growth or have noticed a mold colony on your flooring or walls we guarantee you have a water problem. Wether it is from a recent flood or maybe a small invisible leak, the problem needs to be addressed. As long as there is residual moisture in your home the mold colony will continue to expand and the spore concentration will continue to increase. If small enough and contained in one location one can try to scrub the infected area with soapy water, rinse, and dry. Although this may work for the time being the liklihood of an underlying water damage problem is very good and a professional should be called.
Damage Repair VS. Damage Restoration
For many decades the gaslamp was the cutting edge lighting source for all homes across the country. It was a cheap, effective way to light your home and was widely accepted by people across the country. It did have it's downsides however, leaving homes covered in soot, the open flame caused homes to heat up during hot Summer months, not to mention the dangers of a house fire. The electric lightbulb was invented and perfected by Edison to replace gas powered lamps and quickly became the go to product to illuminate homes. It was clean, relatively heat free, and cost effective. What an idea!
For many years emergency & construction companies would deconstruct a damaged home or office and repair the property with all new building materials. Like the gaslamp, this was widely accepted as the way to get families & businesses back to normal after flood damage, storm damage, and fire damage. Although this technique is effective for heavily damaged properties SERVPRO realized, in most cases, restoration is far superior to repair. In other words, "a lightbulb went off."
REPAIR VS. RESTORATION
- Repair is much more costly than restoration
- Repair takes 2-3 times longer to complete than restoration
- Repair is much harsher than restoration to the environment
Although SERVPRO are also experts at complete repair projects to damaged properties, the restoration approach is always taken first. This modern day resoration before repair idea is possible because of the state-of-the-art advances in cleaning supplies, technological advances in machinery, and, most important, the SERVPRO restoration techniques employed, perfected, and utilized by it's highly trained staff in your hometown.
Let you local SERVPRO illuminate your life after a loss. Call today, it's as simple as flipping a switch.

Smoke Damage & Removing A Burned Structure
This structure will have to be removed by SERVPRO Green Valley before mitigation of the smoke damaged residence.
SERVPRO Green Valley recently began a job in Willcox, AZ where a structure next to a residence burned down. Fortunately, the neighbooring structure did not burn the residence, but it did cause intensive smoke damage throughout the home. SERVPRO Green Valley are experts in cleaning smoke damaged properties and the thourough cleaning of the residence is underway.
While on site surveying and estimating the damage, a member of our expert staff noted that the remains of the burned structure would have to be removed from the site before beginning the cleaning, otherwise the odor and burned particulate matter would keep entering the home over and over again.
Our crew chief called the insurance adjuster assigned to the case and gave him a rundown of the additional need to remove the burned structure. Soon after, the job was approved and the residents will soon be back to their normal life.
