Water Damage Repair And Restoration In Tucson
Tucson weather is a constant source of sunshine for most of the year. It’s part of what makes it a great home for the local Air Force Base and why flooding is not a problem for homeowners. It does not stop pipes from breaking or appliances from failing, however.
Most Tucson water damage comes such incidents. While most involve small amounts of water, SERVPRO response teams know even that can cause much damage if it is left to dry on its own.
Water can soak quickly into a property like drywall and furniture. In the case of drywall panels, once they absorb enough, the material begins to crack and crumble in place. The results can leave a room with exposed wall framing along the floor. If the leak was from a pipe running overhead to a bathroom sink, the water could strip a room of all drywall completely.
That is why SERVPRO trains team members as Water Damage Restoration Technicians or WDRTs. That includes replacement of affected property like drywall and making minor repairs of plumbing problems like tightening loose joints and replacing small items like a cracked tailpiece or a rusted out trap in a bathroom or kitchen sink.
Training also includes the restoration of items like furniture. WDRTs remove affected items from the area with water and place it on blocks or pallets. That allows items to dry without dripping onto carpets or wood floors, possibly staining them with the paint or varnish softened by being underwater. If there is a carpet stain, team members use a commercial-grade shampooer and a cleaning agent designed to remove finishes without harming the carpet fibers.
If needed, technicians set-up fans to carefully increase air circulation and speed up drying. The gentle movement forces water out of the furniture and into the air where it evaporates naturally. If the humidity level inside the home is higher than normal, WDRTs can increase evaporation by installing a dehumidifier to lower it.
At SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley, our response teams cover an extensive area. We are proud to support additional communities like Vail, Summit, and Littletown, to eliminate water damage in their homes. How Dehumidifiers Help With Water Damage Restoration in Tucson
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley is well equipped to handle all of your water loss event needs.
Why We Have Many Dehumidifiers for Water Damaged Tucson Homes
There are many tools that our team uses to address the detrimental effects of water loss incidents in your Tucson home. In some instances, like with dehumidification equipment, we have multiple sizes and types of these units to suit every disaster and severity. We understand the importance of having the right machines for the job, and that is why these machines are all available in our ready trailers prepared to roll out from our facility at a moment’s notice when disasters strike.
Many homeowners can appreciate the disastrous effects of allowing water damage in Tucson to persist after an emergency. Time is of the essence to get the saturation and moisture back to acceptable parameters, and assessment is a considerable part of that equation. We have multiple devices to detect the presence of moisture pockets and excessive dampness beyond the accessible damage zone. Our SERVPRO professionals have continued training in identifying water damage threats and mitigation tactics to protect as much of your property as possible.
The dehumidification equipment that we use helps to manage the moisture content in damaged areas of your residence. Low Grain Refrigerant (LGR) dehumidifiers are an ideal selection in conditions where a considerable water loss incident has taken place. In most applications, LGR units address conditions where moisture levels are below 55 grains per pound. This measurement gets based on a pound of dry air and each grain in the scale representing a drop of water.
Desiccant dehumidifiers absorb moisture through a filtering process over silica gel. Humidity in this air brought into the unit gets removed and air exhausted from the machine is dry and warm, helping to dry out the affected areas further. This equipment can get set up in multiple locations throughout a water-damaged home, helping our SERVPRO team to address numerous saturation points.
Our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley rapid response team understands how vital it is to get mitigation started immediately when a home gets affected by a water loss incident. You can count on our team to arrive with all of the necessary equipment to help. Give us a call anytime you need us at (520) 648-7360.

Steps That Lead To A Positive Outcome During Water Cleanup In Tucson
Although water is the primary agent used in almost every cleanup activity, an unwanted spill can cause a myriad of problems. In many cases, it pools around the property, so fast extraction solves the problem. However, if it leaves wet contents or building materials, other problems like staining and even mold development can occur. Mold starts growing within 24-48 hours after the spill. We offer professional restoration services that ensure you take the right restoration steps.
Fast response is one of the crucial steps during water cleanup in Tucson. Although the spill happens fast, it takes some time for the water to seep through slightly porous materials such as wood. Similarly, it takes time for the water to dissolves dyes in porous materials, so responding fast can help forestall problems such as staining, warping, and rot. Our SERVPRO technicians use fast extraction equipment such as truck-mounted water extractors. We also have portable water extractors, which increase the convenience of reaching different areas within the property.
Water leaves property dirty by transferring debris such as dust from one area to another or dissolving dyes from non-colorfast fabrics. It also causes rust in metallic items. Proper cleanup of affected areas is necessary to restore the property to its preloss state. Our SERVPRO technicians use power washers, steam cleaning equipment, and multi-surface scrubbers and other equipment to clean your property. We also utilize professional cleaning agents including powders, sprays, granules, and liquids to clean up any soiling left by the spill “Like it never even happened.”
Proper water cleanup also involves drying any unnecessary moisture from the property. After extracting water from the spill and the cleaning efforts, our SERVPRO technicians take steps to dry the property. We use different equipment to monitor moisture levels. Thermal cameras help us establish whether there is wetness in concealed areas. We also have moisture meters, which help us establish the actual moisture levels present in different materials. Our specialists then use dehumidifiers and air movers to dry the property to normal levels.
For an adequately executed cleanup exercise after water damage, call SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley to assist. You can reach us at (520) 648-7360 any time. We’re Faster to Any Size Disaster.

Some Warning Signs of Water Damage and Possible Mold in Vail
Toilets are a necessity in a home. Unfortunately, they can also be the cause of water damage. Call SERVPRO immediately for water removal services.
Toilet Flooding Requires Fast Water Removal for Vail Homes
For all of the convenience that toilets provide your Vail residence, they are not without their likelihood of degradation and failure under the right conditions. Homeowners here need to ensure that they inspect their plumbing and fixtures for signs of wear before the situation gets too bad to avoid widespread water loss. For toilets, this requires a homeowner to assess the lifespan of supply lines to the tank and also to determine that components inside that tank still can maintain appropriate water levels and do not allow overflows to occur.
Often homeowners do not understand the severity of the condition of these fixtures in their home until disaster strikes, and they need water removal services in Vail. Our SERVPRO professionals in the rapid response team can arrive at your damaged home quickly to help prevent the spread of this flowing water throughout your home. We have extraction equipment and drying tools that can help to ensure that moisture in the bathroom gets removed, even from underneath flooring tile and behind drywall.
Water removal is a vital service that you should entrust to professional restoration technicians like ours. Without adequate removal and drying, you could leave your home vulnerable to structural weaknesses and secondary effects like mold and mildew growth. With exposure to pooling water, elements like your drywall and vanity can begin to become saturated, warp, and distort over a brief period.
Our SERVPRO technicians bring in portable sump pumps and extraction wands to remove excess water from the flooring in your bathroom quickly. If water has reached outside of the room, we can also bring in weighted extractors to pull moisture up from carpeted areas. The sooner that we can get the excess water out of the exposed areas, the faster that our team can set up efficient drying equipment to protect saturated materials from requiring removal and replacement.
You cannot predict when fixtures like your toilet might break a supply line or overflow the tank. What you can count on, is the fast response and quality results you can get from our SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley team. Give us a call anytime at (520) 648-7360.

Ways SERVPRO Dries Your Water Damaged Vail Home
Are your appliances contributing to water damage?
Restoration of Water Damage in Vail Homes from Start to Finish
Returning home and finding your property saturated in water from a burst pipe or structural weakness can be emotionally draining. In areas of the home like a garage or cellar, keep-sakes need fast removal to prevent permanent harm. In insulated areas of the home, water can seep into wall cavities, beneath the subfloor or absorb into fabrics and furniture. These types of infiltration are not easy to remove, and you do require professional help to get the job done correctly.
One of the key things to remember for a technician remediating water damage in Vail properties is that "wet always moves to dry," which is one of the reasons water moves from wet materials to dry ones. It is also a reason why correctly drying properties can take a lot longer than initially expected, especially without the right training and equipment.
SERVPRO technicians train on how to remove water and dry a structure in the most efficient way possible. That starts with water extractors which use vacuum power and heated wands to draw water out of fabrics and floors. Where standing water is above two inches, we can use gas-powered pumps to remove it rapidly. Extracting water this way is 1,200 times faster than dehumidification.
Similar to how water moves from wet materials to dry materials, evaporated moisture moves from humid air to drier air. When relative humidity levels go above 60%, it can slow the drying times of furniture and fabrics. SERVPRO uses rapid air movers to push moisture saturated air away from the affected area. This process helps to further reduce the drying time and the costs of your restoration service.
One of the reasons SERVPRO is so prevalent in the community is because of our attention to detail. Industry leading training and IICRC certification ensure that we can deliver an efficient restoration effort to any size disaster.

Fast and Reliable Water Removal Services in Tucson
Tucson homeowners want to make sure that they understand all aspects of what they need and take time to seek out estimates and bids with many household repairs and system replacement. When water invades your house, however, speed is essential. Waiting even a day or two subjects your property to the possibility of irreversible deterioration of many conventional building materials and exposes it to the risk of damage from microbial growth. We offer reliable restoration services 24/7.
Water removal needs in Tucson often trace their source to plumbing fails and appliance malfunctions. A drier climate outdoors cannot ensure protection from the many ways water damages the interior of a home. For example, a water heater that rusts through and cracks can send 30 to 50 or more gallons of water flooding through your home, with the water continuing to flow from the supply side until someone shuts down the main. This quantity of water requires fast, professional attention.
SERVPRO responds Faster To Any-Sized Disaster, understanding that water damage is one of the most destructive forces that attack a home. We arrive with fully-equipped service vehicles, stocked with submersible pumps and water extractors ready to roll. Our crew arranges the water shut off and uses pumps when more than 2 inches of water cover the affected area. Gas powered pumps allow us to get right to work even if the electricity is off for safety purposes.
Powerful truck-mounted water extractors take on removal duty as the water recedes and in recessed areas. SERVPRO technicians master moisture monitoring techniques in IICRC classes, guiding our crews to areas where moisture drained and hides. If significant quantities of water migrated between walls, we might make flood cuts to release the moisture. Replacing sections of drywall is a sensible choice when the trapped water otherwise could continue to soak into and destroy wood framing and insulation.
If the water reached areas where your home features carpeting, rely on the specialized training our employees have to remove the water and prevent mold or mildew from growing. SERVPRO crews use weighted wanded extractors to dry carpeting in place when the water involved is Category 1. We often remove and replace padding to speed the drying process and guard against the possibility of lingering moisture that supports microbial growth if left for more than 24 to 48 hours.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley has the equipment and technicians at the ready if your home experiences internal water invasion from leaks or breakdowns. Call (520) 648-7360 to schedule an assessment within the first hours of your water emergency.

Professional Remediation for Water Damage to Floors in Green Valley
Water damage affects materials in your home at different rates. Contact SERVPRO right away for effective remediation efforts.
SERVPRO Technicians Understand How Quickly Many Different Types of Flooring Absorb Water After a Water Damage Event
Nearly all homeowners take the structural components and fixtures of their Green Valley residences for granted until water intrudes. The damage water can cause is shocking, yet you have little time to spare assimilating that information during the crisis. Water damage must be addressed immediately. Our technicians train in efficient water remediation strategies and have access to the correct equipment to abate a water loss that otherwise might expose your floors to permanent damage.
The approach taken to remediate water damaged floors in your Green Valley home varies depending on the type of flooring material. Vinyl or linoleum and tile floors typically handle water well, rarely needing more than water extraction and general drying with air movers and a dehumidifier to remedy. In cases, however, where the water seeps down into the subfloor through cracks in the joints between tile or squares, more intensive action is needed. Our technicians know how to evaluate the damage to the surface and the underlying plywood or other flooring layers. During IICRC training, our employees master methods to reduce the excess moisture in all flooring levels to normal levels.
When laminate floors show water damage, the prognosis can be less favorable. Laminate floors contain layers of absorbent materials that soak up the water, swelling and distorting quickly. These floors mimic hardwood or other natural materials but are not as durable. If SERVPRO technicians arrive shortly after the laminate soaks through, swift water extraction and drying techniques might save some or at least a portion of the flooring. Often the layers split apart as the water dissolves the bonds and those areas require replacement.
Hardwood floors can be surprisingly durable, but SERVPRO reports the best outcomes when we arrive within hours of the water loss. Eventually even densely pored wood absorbs enough water to swell resulting in buckling, warping, cupping, or crowning. We evaluate the damage seen and advise on the likelihood we can reverse or at least mitigate the damage. In all cases, water removal and drying are necessary.
SERVPRO must resolve water damage to subfloors under all circumstances. If the moisture levels remain at above normal, the efforts we make to dry out visible flooring fail when the underlying moisture wicks into the top layer. Lingering moisture also exposes your home to the risk of secondary damage like mold growth and progressive weakening of the structure. We use advanced drying equipment like dehumidifiers and negative air pressure floor mats that pull moisture out the wet layers. If there is access to the underfloor from the story below, we position air movers underneath to hasten evaporation.
SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley has a range of strategies available if your floor experiences water damage. Call us at (520) 648-7360 to schedule an assessment and develop a water mitigation plan.

Professional Water Damage Restoration Is The Smart Choice In Sahuarita
SERVPRO Detects Excess Moisture and Removes Water from Sahuarita Homes to Mitigate Damages
Homeowners in Sahuarita Call Upon SERVPRO to Remove Water from Leaks and Mitigate Damages
With big box hardware and home improvement stores in Sahuarita full of equipment for the do-it-yourselfer, a homeowner can feel prepared for any emergency. The reality of water incursion events, however, often includes recovery complications an untrained person cannot anticipate. Our highly-qualified team of restoration experts has the training and experience, as well as the tools, to manage your water damage scenario successfully.
Water damage in a Sahuarita dwelling often traces to a long-time buildup of moisture from seemingly minor leaks in plumbing, appliances, or roofing. Sometimes the slow drip turns into a torrent when a pipe or connection breaks, or when a seasonal storm reveals roof flashings or gutter systems are in need of attention. It may even be caused by a swamp cooler on the roof. Responding to the immediate crisis leads to the discovery of the previous and unnoticed destruction. The crew members we send to your home are well aware of the propensity of water damage to accumulate quietly under cabinets and between walls.
When our SERVPRO team arrives an assessment of the immediate water damage encompasses any signs we see of prior issues. A key component of our investigation is the use of sensitive moisture meters and advanced infrared scanners that detect hidden pockets of water. As we begin pumping and extracting the visible water, we keep in mind that Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) industry standards require applied structural drying of every material and recess saturated. Our production managers always determine drying goals based on IICRC mandates and develop a step by step action plan to achieve those goals.
Once the pumps and wanded extractors complete their phase of the restoration, SERVPRO employees move in high-efficiency air movers and dehumidifiers to continue the structural drying. If indicated by the moisture levels within the structural components, heaters may join the tools employed to force water out of walls, floors, framing, fixtures, and ceilings. Moisture evaporates as it escapes the surfaces, and the evaporative or desiccant dehumidifiers we use reduce the resultant higher ambient humidity in the rooms affected by the water damage. We also choose effective strategies to release water trapped in hidden spaces -- drilling holes, pulling off baseboards and kick plates, or removing sections of compromised drywall or ceiling tiles.
The thoroughness SERVPRO brings to a water damage scene is crucial, as any lingering dampness continues to deteriorate dampened structures. Microbial growth is also a severe consequence of a failure to eradicate all excess moisture, including high humidity. Rely on our team’s proven ability to manage all aspects of your water loss restoration project.
Do not be caught over your head in water damage mitigation challenges. Contact SERVPRO of Southeast Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley for fast and professional solutions to a water loss. Call (520) 648-7360 for a 24 hour, year-round response.

Leaking Refrigerator Line Causes Tucson Water Damage
This water damaged kitchen in Tucson, AZ required several commercial grade dryers. The water damaged home was caught quickly & the cabinetry was saved
Yesterday we received a call from a Tucson area homeowner. She woke up to a flooded kitchen and living room and was unsure of what to do. Well, in a case like this, she did know what to do, call SERVPRO Tucson. Our flood restoration truck & trained staff was on-site in about an hour. Our crew chief quickly found the source of the problem, a water line supplying the refrigerator broke, and although the leak wasn't very big it quietly leaked water throughout the night downstairs.
The Tucson kitchen and living room were flooded extensively and work to restore the property was quickly started. In order to minimize the impact of costly repairs down the road, water restoration services should start immediately. Because the Tucson homeowner caught the water damage quickly the impact of the damage was minimized. The standing water was quickly removed and the dryers were brought in. The kitchen cabinetry was saved, the toe kicks removed, and the SERVPRO commercial dryers were turned on.
In order to ensure the surrounding drywall is dried thouroughly our "inject-a-dry" unit was used. Small holes are drilled in the drywall and fast moving air is injected behind the wall to ensure the water is removed from the backside as well as the front side. It has been 24 hours since the flood was discovered. Our fans have been running through the night to ensure the water damaged areas don't show signs of mold growth in the future. Further restoration of the water damaged kitchen will continue and before & after pictures will be posted.
Polybutylene Plumbing & Water Damage
Here is a good example of gray Polybutylene. This will leak over time & cause extensive water damage.
Some things just go together, peanut butter & jelly, popcorn & movies, and springtime & baseball. I think we can all agree that these are things that are destined to be together. Another thing to add to the list is Polybutylene plumbing & water damage. Some of you may not be aware of what Polybutylene plumbing is, where it may be in your home, how to identify it, and what it can cause.
What Is Polybutylene Plumbing?
Polybutylene is a polymer or plastic material that was widely used to make piping for plumbing in commercial and residential buildings during the 1970's. When new it is a tough but flexible material and was deemed perfect for all types of plumbing. Traditionally copper was used for piping, but because of the cost of this metal polybutylene became the material of choice for home builders through the mid nineties. Extensive testing was done in the 1970's to test the durability of this new, space-age material and it passed with flying colors. Sometimes, scientific testing fails, especially if a key point is missed. The labs that were carrying out the testing failed to recognize that public water supplies typically contained elements like chlorine. Over time this chemical causes this plastic to become brittle and deteriorate from the inside out. Eventually, (15-20 years) this plumbing will fail and water will begin leaking into your ceiling and walls.
Where Is Polybutylene Plumbing?
This type of plumbing is typically found in areas where housing booms were happening from the early eighties through the mid-nineties. Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah are some of the states where Polybutylene plumbing was widely used. Tucson, AZ in particular was a boom town during this time and water damage issues as well as mold damage are common place. A plumber can tell you for sure if your home or office was plumbed with Polybutylene. This type of plumbing, if used in your home, can be found in basements, entering your hot water heater, under sinks in you bathroom or kitchen, or in your attic. It is commonly used for water distribution within your home and may be hiding behind walls.
How Do I Identify Polybutylene?
If your home or office was constructed in the last 15 years the liklihood of polybutylene plumbing used is very low. If your structure was built from the mid- seventies to the mid-nineties you may want to do some snooping around. This plumbing is typically 1/2" to 1" in diameter and may be blue, grey, or black. If you find piping in these colors, first look for a stamp marked "PB 2110 M". If you see this mark it is a great idea to call a plumber. Blue Polybutylene was usually used for underground water mains, but you may see this entering your home through your foundation or inserted in your water meter. Black distribution piping, although less commonly used than grey, may be 1/2" to 1" in diameter but may not be polybutylene. Polyethelene plumbing is also black and a professional plumber should be called to identify this piping.
Polybutylene Failure Leads To Water Damage & Mold Growth
Over time this plumbing will fail if not addressed in a timely manner. Water damage and eventual mold growth will occur in ceilings and walls leaving you with insurance claims or expensive out of pocket costs. If you have a water leak in your home call a plumber to repair and replace the faulty plumbing. When the plumber is finished with their repair, a water restoration company like SERVPRO will be needed to restore and repair your flood damaged ceiling, flooring, and walls. Our restoration techniques are unrivaled and we will thoroughly dry you home and it's contents with our time tested techniques. SERVPRO Tucson & water damage restoration is kind of like peanut butter & jelly, we just go together.
Carpet Drying Services Tucson
If the carpet pad is not replaced the carpet will wick moisture back into it. An attempt was made to dry the carpet surface but was not a solution.
We recently received a call from a Tucson homeowner who had a flood develop in her bathroom which left a lot of water in her hallway and living room. She called a plumber to fix the source of the leak. The plumber fixed the leak and offered to dry her carpet for an additional fee. She agreed, he brought in a couple of commercial fans and left them on overnight to dry the property. In the morning he came back to retrieve the fans and the carpet was dry to the touch.
After about a week the homeowner began to notice an odd smell in her home and called around to different carpet drying companies. She settled on our SERVPRO to come out and take a look. After one of our trained staff members heard what had happened he knew instantly the carpet pad, and the carpet drying in general had not been done correctly.
Mold growth had begun in the carpet pad which was attributing to the odd, funky smell in the home. The carpet would have to pulled up and the damp carpet pad underneath would have to be disposed of and replaced. Five to six commercial drying fans would be placed in strategic areas around the living room to ensure proper air flow and would be left running for three days before reinstallation of the pad and carpeting could be done. We gave her a free estimate on neccessary repairs and she gave us a call a couple of days later to begin the work.
Although many plumbers are licensed & bonded in the field of plumbing, not all of them are equipped to deal with a severely water damaged property, nor do all of them follow IICRC principles & policies when drying carpets or flood damaged flooring. In the Tucson, Green Valley, and Sahuarita areas SERVPRO is the company to call for carpet drying services.
Emergency Water & Flood Restoration 85614
This home in Green Valley 85614 Had an under sink leak. The water flowed onto the flooring requiring SERVPRO to restore the water damaged property.
When I was in 3rd grade my teacher told the class that it was impossible to draw a perfect circle. I don't like being told I can't do something (who does?) so out came a pencil and a sheet of paper. Tongue sticking out slightly and to the side I set out to make the impossible happen. I realized, after about half an hour that this was impossible, and I was ok with that.
A home is built on the principle of being flat & square. A builder will do everything they can do to make sure your home or office follows these basic building principles. Unfortunately, like drawing a perfect circle, this is impossible to get just right. Our eyes can't see these slight discrepancies, but if you pour a glass of water on your floor or countertop, it will definitely flow from a high spot to a low spot.
Now imagine that glass of water multiplied ten thousand times. This flood like amount of water will flow from high to low as well, even if your flooring is off from being flat by a single degree. Water will always flow from high to low, we can thank gravity for that. In a flooded home, water never just sits on top of flooring, it will find every crack and opening in your floor and find it's way to the slab your home sits on, eventually soaking into the cement further looking for an escape. This can cause many problems if not addressed including cracking, mold growth, and a generally compromised foundation.
When your home has suffered from a flood resulting in water damage, in the Green Valley 85614 area or portions of Tucson, SERVPRO 85614 is the service to use. Our highly trained team is equipped to remove all damaging moisture from your home. Our response time, and philosphies on restoration are time tested and proven techniques utilized by expert technicians. Although none of them can draw a perfect circle we sure have the ability to restore your flood damaged structure "like it never even happened."
